As far as transportation, the city is privileged because it is located in the middle of the main highway of São Paulo state.
The design to extend the Bandeirantes highway with 16 Km inside our county is in the final stages of construction and is already creating excellent areas for great industrial development.
For air transportation, there is Viracopos international airport just 50 Km from Santa Bárbara d'Oeste. And for ocean transportation there is the port of Santos 220 Km away. These two means of transportation, owing to their closeness to our city have favored the importation of goods and exportation of production. This has included Santa Bárbara d'Oeste in the globalized marketplace.
Regarding railroad transportation, the city is served by the privatized Ferroban and soon the branch line will be in operation, which constitutes a new option for cargo transportation.
The public transportation in the city is operated by one authorized company while four companies operate the transportation between Santa Bárbara and other cities.
Santa Bárbara d'Oeste is fortunate as far as water resource is concerned. All the water supplied to the city is collected from sources without any contamination. Currently, around 500 liters of water per second are treated in the four existing stations.
A new water treatment station that is under test operation will double the capacity to 1,000 liters per second. This means supply of plenty water to the whole city for the next 20 years.
In the neighboring Caiubi district, is the Regional Nucleus of Environmental Education of the Middle Piracicaba river basin with 21 member counties with the objective of preparing programs, projects and action related to environmental education. This integration of local and regional social efforts aim at preserving the environment and improving quality of life.
|THE ECONOMY HUMAN RESOURCES|
The city is provided with excellent quality of skilled labor. The existing big companies in the fields of metalworking, plastics, ready made clothing articles, textiles and embroidery, among others, encourage the formation of good professionals. Also, the technical schools, the Social Solidarity Fund and the Municipal Employment Committee, have performed excellent work in the qualification and re-qualification of workers and the preparation of professionals among the needy population.
|ENERGY RESOURCES AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS|
The Cia. Paulista de Força e Luz CPFL (Paulista Power and Light Company) operates an extensive electric energy network that serves satisfactorily the homes, factories and service rendering companies in general. The close location of the Paulinia Petrochemical Pole and the future installation of City-Gate for gas distribution from the Brazil/Bolivia gas pipeline, will provide the city with great energy capability to meet the demand of big companies.
Telecommunications in Santa Bárbara d'Oeste is of the highest technology compared to the most important centers in the country. Currently, there are 30,000 conventional, mobile and public telephones in operation.
